Formed sometime around mid 2020, °citimall came to life not in a studio but in the middle of a late night hang at Soham Mukherji’s apartment. The origin story? A movie night gone rogue. A few of the members were messing around with beats, one thing led to another, and they dropped “mexico” the same night. That track was raw, unfiltered, and weirdly magnetic. Unhinged in the best way. Rough, loud, and impossible to ignore.
The follow-up, “JOHNNY,” is a surreal whirlwind that introduced the world to citimall’s taste for the absurd. Inspired by an aggressive beat Aditya Arun, aka Don Cody, had been crafting, the song spirals into a fictional tale about theft, its ramifications, and a certain unlucky accountant named Johnny Jain.
“We like taking mundane ideas and blowing them out of proportion,” Cody told Rolling Stone India.
°citimall is a band that doesn’t really believe in genre or rules. Meet the seven member crew: Arsubhai, Skinny, Aditya Arun, Ishaan Rao, Soham Mukherji, Aryan Vakharia, and mietodev, each one adding their own distinct style, sound, and chaos to the mix. Whether it's sharp verses, warped production, or visual direction, every member brings something that makes citimall more than just a band.
The sound? Imagine if your group chat had a sound system. Their tracks bounce between thumping basslines and experimental breakdowns, stitched together by glitchy hooks, catchy flows, and the kind of chemistry you can’t fake. Songs like “CALI” and “SHE KNOW” capture that energy perfectly, club ready and internet brained in the best way possible.
But citimall isn’t just about the music. Their visual aesthetic is a world of its own: trippy edits, bootleg Y2K fashion, layered filters, and a sense of humor that’s extremely online. Whether it’s Instagram reels, cover art, or their music videos, they know how to build a vibe and then break it just to keep you guessing.
That unpredictability is what makes them so compelling. It’s what makes them unforgettable. One moment you’re nodding to a slick verse, the next you're somewhere entirely new. It’s deliberate. It’s fun. It’s °citimall.
They’ve already caught the attention of Rolling Stone India, GQ, and a growing cult following online. And with each drop, they keep evolving. Faster. Louder. Glitchier. Sharper.
As of May 2025, citimall's latest release with gini under Universal Music India is “Har Subah”, a smooth melodic track that brings together gini’s vocal warmth and citimall’s offbeat production style. The song leans into a more reflective mood while still carrying the unpredictable energy citimall is known for. It’s a softer entry in their catalog but one that still feels entirely their own.
Whether they’re going full throttle or slowing it down, °citimall doesn’t miss. You don’t listen to their songs so much as you enter them, loud rooms full of distortion, honesty, and a surprising amount of heart.
Step in. They’re just getting started.
Keep up with citimall
