If you've spent enough time on the indie side of the internet, you've likely stumbled upon a track or reel by Chaar Diwaari. If you haven’t, are you living under a rock? (Just kidding. Kind of)
If he hasn’t hit your radar yet, allow us the pleasure of introducing you to Garv Taneja: a 22-year-old singer-songwriter, music producer and visual artist from New Delhi whose work is anything but confined, despite the name literally meaning “four walls.”
The alias was coined by his mother, referencing how often he was found tucked away in his room making music.
Taneja began writing and composing at an early age, inspired by old Bollywood songs on FM radio. After three years at Mumbai’s True School of Music, he dropped out not in rebellion, but in pursuit of creative honesty. Now signed to Def Jam Recordings India, he’s still very much writing his own playbook.
His discography is an emotional minefield, unpredictable and deeply immersive. Take “Barood” for instance, a track that feels like pure nightmare fuel, both sonically and visually. It’s theatrical, volatile, and impossible to look away from.
On the other end of the spectrum is “Roshni” (with Bharg), which starts off as a deceptively upbeat, almost sugary pop tune. But just when you settle into its brightness, it swerves, crashing headfirst into a wall of metal.
For “Thehra”, Diwaari posted a reel with the caption “POV: you're listening to a genre that doesn't exist yet.” Guess it was a flex, but no lies were told. The track defies neat classification. It's part lullaby, part emotional breakdown, part dream sequence. One listen in, and you're already on your fifth repeat.
In April 2024, Diwaari teased a reel of LOVESEXDHOKA!!!, revealing it was originally written for a film that ended up rejecting it. Instead of shelving the track, he turned to his audience and asked if he should finish it anyway. And the response? Overwhelming. Today, the LOVESEXDHOKA!!! music video has crossed 2.2 million views on YouTube. Not too bad for a track that almost didn’t make it.
In April 2025, Diwaari teamed up with Raftaar for Farebi. Since its release, the track has racked up impressive numbers across platforms. As of July 2025, Farebi has crossed 7.7 million streams on Spotify. It also broke into Apple Music India’s Top 200, peaking around #127 and continuing to climb.
The track currently ranks among the most streamed songs on both Chaar Diwaari and Raftaar’s Spotify profiles, making it one of the standout indie-rap releases of the year.
And as for Instagram? He is everywhere.
Garv has become a regular on soundtrack of the week. His clips rack up thousands of plays, edits of his tracks are constantly in circulation, and fans engage deeply with every teaser, visual, or lyric drop. It’s not just content, it’s conversation.
